I’m Liz Marston. I’m a frontend engineer. Outside of work, I write, I make music, and I sing.
Whatever has pissed me off the least most recently. TBH, I do a lot of work in GarageBand, which gets flak for being rinky-dink, and that’s not wrong. But it’s also got compelling basic user stories, and, after a three-year sojourn under Linux with jackd(1) and about a hundred thousand things that did not ever quite work right, I’m enjoying the reduced cognitive load. Aesthetics are rarely just that. MBP keyboard sucks, though, hence my beloved ErgoDox EZ, which pairs great with my trusty old Kensington trackball: essential tech in my desk-minimal config, as you can see in the pic. The piston-cantilevered stand/sit desk does not offer a lot of mouse room, and my ambidextrous brain has me grabbing for the mouse with whichever hand is least busy, which means by elimination that I need a split keyboard with an immobile pointing device (trackball, trackpad) up the middle. My current config is ideal.
I keep it pretty close to the default config, modulo some personal adaptations (I’m used to caps lock being my escape key in Vim).
